The Band

The City of Norwich Pipe Band was formed in 1978 by two dedicated pipers, Norman Bald and Sid George, along with a drummer, Andrew Stillie. Originally known as the Norwich and District Pipe Band, we proudly wore the New Caledonia Tartan in our early years. Since then, we have evolved and embraced new traditions, including the Prince Charles Edward Stewart tartan since 1997.

Our mission is to honour and promote the rich tradition of pipe and drum music while embracing innovation and creativity. We aim to perform with excellence, inspire our audiences, and foster a strong sense of community through our music.

Milestones and Achievements over the years, the Norwich Pipe Band has had the privilege of participating in various prestigious events and competitions. We played in Koblenz, Germany in both 1992 and 1994 as part of the Norwich/Koblenz twin city celebrations. Our commitment to charity has seen us support Marie Curie events in Edinburgh in 1995, 2000, and 2005.

Our competitive spirit has taken us to notable Pipe Band Competitions at Cowal Games, Chatsworth, Battersea, Hyde Park, and Colchester. We've also supported The Royal Scottish Country Dance Association in countries across Europe, including Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Italy, and Switzerland.
