Learn To Play
Are you interested in learning how to play the bagpipes or drums? Whether you're a complete beginner or have some musical experience, we invite you to join the Norwich Pipe Band and become part of our vibrant community.
You don't need to be a musician to join the band. We welcome anyone with an interest in piping and drumming, whether you want to learn to play, support the band, or help out during practice nights or performances. We believe in the power of community, and there's always a place for you here!
We hold weekly practice sessions every Thursday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The night is split into two parts to give everyone, from learners to experienced players, a chance to improve their skills:
First Hour (7:30 - 8:30 pm):
Learners receive individual tuition on practice chanters and drum pads. This focused time is perfect for mastering the basics or refining your technique.
Second Hour (8:30 - 9:30 pm):
We usually move on to playing the full pipes and drums as a group. If the weather allows, we take our practice outside to get the feel of performing in open spaces.
